WN019 A gentleman in mid 30s earning his livelihood by doing hand embroidery had a cerebral infarction (area of necrotic tissue in the brain resulting from a blockage or narrowing in the arteries supplying blood and oxygen to the brain) in early 2018 and is unable to work due to that. His wife who was not working earlier now has to work (as a cleaner in some houses) to compensate for managing the finances related to her husband's medical treatment, running the household and managing six kids. Four kids go to school while two of them have been picked up from school so that they can also work and help in managing the household expenses. The family has financial constraints due to low income and debt.

WN020 The gentleman was working as a driver and had a car accident. Apart from other injuries he also broke his leg. Since there was no help he had to fund his own treatment and ended up by selling his small house for about Rs 180,000. The leg is still not cured. Now he is out of job, walking on cruthches selling car cleaning cloths on the roads. His daily income of about Rs 400 to 500 is not enough to sustain his family and to get further treatment. From his first wife he has one daughter who is 22 years old. After death of his first wife he married again and has two kids (ages 3 and 2) from his second wife. The elder daughter was keen to study but could not fulfil her dreams due to the family's financial conditions. They can't even afford milk for the little ones.

WN046 The lady is an asthma patient. She was working 6 years ago with an advertising company as a receptionist but had to leave the job due to illness and to look after the kids as there was no one at home. Husband was doing a job with a boutique and driving rickshaw in free time before COVID lock down. Rickshaw was on loan and lender was asking for his money so he had to sell it. Now working with the same employer but the pay is not sufficient.

WN048 The lady is a widow with young kids. She lives in an open plot with a tent like setup. She is suffering from general illness and needs assistance in health care and general support in relation to her living conditions.

WN052 The lady has allergy and itching on her legs and hands. Her husband is mentally not well and does not go to work regularly. She is looking for health care and ration support.

WN123 This is a case of a 24 years old young boy who was working as a delivery boy in Dubai. His spinal cord got injured in a road accident. He lost sensations in lower part of the body since then. Both his lower limbs are paralysed. His father died a few years ago leaving him to be the only male member in the family who is unable to do anything now. He has a mother and a sister only. Help is required for his treatment.

WN136 The gentleman was a rikshaw driver but had to sell his rickshaw for treating his illness. His foot is infected due to diabetes. He needs help for his treatment and support for his family. At the moment his brother and other family members are helping him.

WN147 This gentleman lost his job due to closure of Shaheen airlines as he was one of the employees. He has a family to support with 3 kids and a father who is not well and needs regular medications. He was helped by Welfare Network in setting up a clothes shop for him (Project wn031). He has recently been admitted in the hospital due to intestinal obstruction. Needs help to handle hospital expenditure and medicines.

WN156 The gentleman is working as a gardener in a Government department. He is requesting support and help for his daughter's treatment who is suffering from some kidney disease.

WN165 The lady has stones in the gall bladder that needs to be removed surgically. Due to shortage of oxygen supplies because of covid, all hospitals have notifications from Government to deal with emergencies only and delay other cases. Due to postponement of surgeries the waiting periods in government hospitals have extended to months. The patient is in severe pain and cannot afford surgery elsewhere on her own.

WN166 The gentleman has his left arm paralyzed and is looking for support regarding his treatment.

WN167 The gentleman is tailor and has a daughter who cannot speak or hear. She also has a disability due to loss of sensations in her legs and hands. He is looking for help regarding his daughter's home care.

WN056 This girl is doing the DPT (Doctor of Physical Therapy) program from Abasyn University in Islamabad. She is living with her maternal grandfather along with her mother who is divorced. Her grandfather is 80 years old and unable to work. Her father does not provide financial help.

WN069 The lady is doing home nursing since five years. Her husband is in Dubai since 2 years and does not support her. He has become an alcohol addict there. She lives with her mother in Karachi. She needs educational support for her kids.

Oct 2024: Lady died due breast cancer.

WN114 A young boy managed to get admission in the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Lahore. He is studying BS Biotechnology but needs educational support as he cannot afford the fee.

WN120 This lady is a widow. Her husband died 7 years ago and she is living with her parents and brothers. Her elder son is working while the other kids are studying. Someone supports her elder daughter to pay her university fee. She needs support to pay her younger kids school and academy fee.

WN124 This case is about funding the education of a girl whose father is a gardener and is unable to pay the school dues. The girl was studying in Garrison college for girls Class XI Humanities, Lahore in 2021 when she applied. Now she is doing a digital marketing course from Peak Solutions Institute. Dec 2023 onwards she is doing her bachelors from University of Punjab.

WN141 The student is studying in IBA Karachi. He has four siblings and his father who is a 16 grade government school teacher is unable to bear the educational expenses of all his children. His brothers and sisters are also students and cannot help. He wants financial support to complete his education.

WN158 This boy is studying Doctor of Physical Therapy from Abasyn University. The family has come from Kashmir and live in camps. The boy works on daily wages and earns about Rs 350 per day. His father is a security guard with salary around Rs 12,000. The boy needs educational support to complete his degree.

She is single handedly supporting her parents, divorced sister and her niece. She herself is currently unmarried and is looking for sponsorship to enable her to complete her education.

WN172 This is the case of a young female currently studying for her B.Ed Hons in Special Education at University of Education, Lahore. She is living with her grandmother, along with her mother (widowed) and younger brother. Welfare Network is currently sponsoring the education of her brother who is in Matric. She is now looking for a sponsor to help her complete her education.

WN174 The gentleman was working as a cook for a family in Karachi for the past 40 years. The family was supporting his children's education but now they have shifted to some other city due to their own constraints. This has made him jobless. Though he will eventually find a new job but most likely will not be having the educational support for his kids which he had earlier on. He needs educational support for his two sons.

WN179 This case if of a girl who is doing BS Biochemistry from Minhaj ul Quran University. Her mother is a maid and father runs a small general store near her house. Her younger sister is in FSC part one. The parents cannot afford their daughters educational expenses.

WN192 This is a case of a girl who is doing FSc Premedical. Her mother is a maid and father runs a small general store near house. Her elder sister is doing BS Biochemistry from Minhaj Ul Quran University (wn179). Her parents cannot afford the educational expenses.

WN060 The lady had to pay her rent which was pending since 5 months. She wants rashan support so that she can save money and pay her rent.

WN072 The gentleman was a distributor at Tapal Danedar agency but lost his job due to COVID-19. Since then he is selling candies on different shops and stores but does not earn enough. His father is living with him but is not well. He was unable to pay his house rent. He is looking for help regarding his problems.

WN113 The gentleman was working at "What a Paratha" as a rider. His salary was Rs 20,000 and other than that was making Rs 5000-8000 as commission. He lost his job during COVID-19. Now he is jobless and looking for a job. He is having issues paying his house rent. He needs rashan support until he finds a new job.

WN127 The gentleman in project wn020 who is struggling to get his leg cured for over one year with multiple surgeries needs ration and family support as his recent surgery has again made him bedridden.

WN142 The gentleman is working as a labourer. Due to covid there is not much work and he is free at home for the last one month. His wife packs hair pins at home on daily wages.

WN143 The lady has applied for a divorce and living alone with her four kids. She was running a canteen in a private school and was earning about Rs 18,000 per month but due to closure of schools because of COVID, she is unable to generate the required income to sustain herself and her kids. Neighbors sometime help her by providing her with one time meal.

WN144 The gentleman works at a furniture showroom and does part time labor job. His salary is not enough and he does not have any part time work due to COVID. Three of his kids are not normal and have special needs.

WN145 The lady runs a salon at her house to earn her bread and butter. Her father is suffering from paralyses and unable to work. Medical checkup was carried out and it has been diagnosed that he is suffering from a cerebrovascular accident, commonly known as stroke where blood flow to a part of the brain is affected (Project wn146). She has 3 siblings and a mother to look after. The elder brother does not offer reasonable help in supporting the family.

WN148 This is a case of a lady whose husband is paralyzed. She needs support for his treatment and ration. Due to her husband's condition she has to remain home to take care of him. Younger son lives with his elder brother separately while one son lives lives with her. Due to financial crisis they are unable to meet the household expenditure.

WN149 The gentleman is tailor and has a daughter who cannot speak or hear. She also has a disability due to loss of sensations in her legs and hands. The gentleman is looking after her health issues other than supporting his family. He needs ration support to reduce his financial burden.

WN153 This is a case of a widow who lives with her physically disabled son and a daughter. The absence of her husband and inability of her son to earn puts all the responsibility on her daughter to support the family by looking after her mother, disabled brother and running the household. Until the son is rehabilitated and is able to work, the family needs our support.

WN154 The gentleman in project wn049 has lost his medical store job and is taking half salary from school where he was working due to holidays. He is also paying his loan instalments. He needs ration support.

WN161 The lady makes frozen items and sells them door to door on order. Her husband is a shopkeeper. She took a loan of 50,000 rupees from Welfare Network to return the loans taken from others. She is paying her instalments on time. Due to financial constraints she is requesting for ration support.

WN162 The applicant is a student whose father is a laborer. They are 3 brothers and 3 sisters. One brother is doing a sales man job while all other siblings are studying. Father and brother cannot afford to feed the family members alone considering their financial constraints. Brother who works is also studying and pays his fee with what he earns.

WN168 The applicant's husband is employed as a laborer at PEL company, but he is currently dealing with health issues. The applicant herself has a skill in stitching clothes, but she has been unable to secure work for the past few months. Their financial situation is strained, with their income falling short of their expenses. They have a family of five children, and there are times when they struggle to afford even basic necessities, including food.

WN170 The gentleman's five year old daughter's right arm has some bone lesions. He was sent to children hospital for evaluation. At the moment the hospital suggested only physiotherapy. Due to his multiple visits to hospital and involvement in treating his daughter, he was unable to work properly and requested for ration support.

WN189 This is the case of a man who works at a tandoor. His work suffered a lot during the month of Ramadan and is not earning enough to cover his day to day expenses. He is looking for ration support.

WN188 This project is to support patients suffering from arthritis, a common disease that can occur in people of all ages. Treatment can range from Rs 50,000 to 500,000 per month. If someone cannot afford the treatment, their only option is to suffer through the pain.

WN190 Globally, uncorrected refractive errors are the main cause of visual impairment. According to the estimates of World Health Organization, about 285 million people are visually impaired out of which 39 million are blind and 246 million have low vision. The major causes of visual impairment are uncorrected refractive errors (43%) followed by cataract (33%). However, the major cause of blindness is cataract (51%). Prevention of Blindness (POB) Trust is a registered charity working for the prevention and treatment of the avoidable causes of blindness focusing on the deprived and marginalized communities. Since its inception in 2007, the trust is providing free of cost diagnostic and surgical eye care services in remote and deprived areas of Pakistan and abroad. The Trust is also striving towards human resource mobilization, training workshops and advocacy with all stakeholders. POB Trust has established an eye hospital in Lahore and a teaching eye hospital in Karachi. School Eye Care is among the major activities of the trust resulting in screening of thousands of children in school environment along with the provision of required spectacles, training of teachers and relevant education. The presence of refractive errors can have many problems with children including educational loss, economic issues, low productivity and impaired quality of life. POB Trust has been working to address this issue and screened more than thirty thousand school children and provided required vision glasses and medicine.
